Biography

Andre L. Rushford, 62, of LaFayette, New York died Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse, New York. He retired from New Process Gear in 2001 following 30 years of service as Heat Treatment Technician. Andre had a passion for Harley Davidson motorcycles. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Andre was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed reading about History. He was a Vietnam Combat Veteran serving in the U.S. Marine Corp. and a member and past Commander of the American Legion Vietnam Post 1902. He was predeceased by his mother, Isabelle Rushford.

Surviving are his wife of 41 years the former Mary Jane Rudy; two daughters, Jeanette (Bobbi) Rushford of Watertown, New York and Janel (John) Kondakoff of North Syracuse, New York; a son, Richard (Pam) Rushford of Cicero, New York; a sister, Marie (Ron) Vendetti of Camillus, New York; seven grandchildren, a great-granddaughter, several nieces, nephews, cousins and his dog, Maddie.

Services will be 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, 2584 Field Lane, LaFayette, New York and 11:00 a.m. in the Church of The Nativity at St. Joseph, 6136 Cherry Valley Turnpike, LaFayette, New York.

Burial will be in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 4069 Howlett Hill Road, Syracuse, New York.

Calling hours will be 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday, March 8, 2010 at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, 2584 Field Lane, LaFayette, New York.

Andre and I were childhood and early teen best friends living on the southside of Syracuse. Andre and Don Hall and John and Al louise hung out and were great friends. We all served in the Marines, Army and went are seperate ways.Andre was always a leader and always a true friend. Hope to meet up with You in the here after, Joe

Mary Jane and family,Andre my self and Ziggy all worked together and I would stop with Ziggy to visit with Andre at your house.He was always working on his bike when we stopped.He was a good friend and family man.We had many laughs over the years.May God bless you and help you find peace in your time of need.

My dear Brother, I know you can see this little note. I miss you so much, my heart is so sad and heavy. I wish we all could have done something anything just to keep you with us, but I'm sure you know we all tried so hard,I even played a tape in your ear of little Katherine telling you to come back, come back Grandpa to our family,because we love you, I know I saw a smile when you heard that.
