Biography
Gaetana "Ida" DiMauro, 95, of The Valley, in Syracuse, New York, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at Apple Rehab. in Old Saybrook, Connecticut. Gaetana was born in Lingvaglossa, Sicily, the daughter of the late Concetto and Sebastiana (Formica) Stagnitta. Mrs. DiMauro was a communicant of St. James Church. She was a loving person and she enjoyed her 1994 trip to Australia, cooking, baking, knitting and gardening.
She is survived by her daughter, Carmella (Irv LaMay) VanBenthuysen of Syracuse, New York; son, Salvatore (Barbara) DiMauro of Hampstead, North Carolina; sister, Ann Basile of Syracuse, New York; brothers, James (Theresa) Stagnitta of Syracuse, New York and Anthony (Betty) Stagnitta of Cicero, New York; granddaughters, Amy DiMauro and Beth Anne (John) Murphy; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph in 1959 and son, Concetto in 2007.
Services will be held Monday, July 26, 2010, 9:15 a.m. at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Inc., 4612 S. Salina Street, Syracuse, New York and 10:00 a.m. in St. James Church, 4845 S. Salina Street, Syracuse, New York where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, 2401 Court Street, Syracuse, New York.
Calling hours will be Sunday, July 25, 2010, 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Inc., 4612 S. Salina Street, Syracuse, New York.
