Obituary of Jeffrey N. Greabell

Jeffrey N. Greabell, age 78, of Williamsville, NY, formerly of Westfield, NY and South Onondaga, NY, beloved husband of the former Judith A. Fellows, passed away peacefully at his home on January 27, 2018.

Jeff was born on July 12, 1939 in Syracuse, New York, the son of the late Leon and Evelyn (Bigelow) Greabell. He married the former Judith Fellows on March 8, 1990 in Westfield, New York.

He was a 1960 Graduate of SUNY Oswego with a degree in Industrial Arts Education. He then attended Syracuse University where he received his degree in Educational Administration.

A Westfield resident since 1988, he became Principal of the Middle School/High School of the Westfield Academy and Central School. During his tenure, he was an avid supporter of all school programs, students and staff. He was especially proud to have one of his teachers become the recipient of the First Music Education Grammy. He retired in 1995; however, returned numerous times as Interim Principal.

He was a life member of the NYS Technical Ed. Association, a Chairman of the Middle States Visiting Committees, President of the Westfield Chapter of Kiwanis International, Member of the Board of Directions of The Cross Roads Farm and Craft Market, Chair of the Buildings and Grounds Committee, and President/Vice President of the Board of Directors. He was a proud member of the New York National Guard.

He was an avid fan of Syracuse University Basketball, the Buffalo Bills and the New York Yankees. He enjoyed woodworking and creating custom made furniture. He also enjoyed camping, reading for information and pleasure, traveling, bowling, and golfing.

Besides his wife he is survived by his sister Deborah (Jerry) Dougan of Minneapolis, MN, sister-in-law Judith T. Greabell of Tampa, FL, his daughter Lynne (Michael) Lucas of Voorheesville, NY, Noelle (Marc) Fournier of Lunenburg, MA, Jeffrey (Karen) Greabell, Jr. of Kings Park, NY, step-daughters Kimberly (Michael) Shane of Syracuse, NY, Lori Solitto of Liverpool, NY and Jill (Dan) Davis of Middletown, RI and step-son Eric (Amanda) Salisbury of Cheektowaga, NY. Jeff was the grandfather to 7 grandchildren, 15 step grandchildren and 16 step great-grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Though he had a blended family, family was the most important part of his life. In addition to his parents, Jeff was predeceased by his brother Leon Greabell who passed away on February 21, 1990.

Jeff was always dedicated to education and chose to donate his body to the University of Buffalo hoping medical students would benefit from his many illnesses.

The family will be celebrating his life Saturday, April 28, 2018, from 2 to 5 p.m., with a brief service at 3 p.m., at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, 2584 Field Lane, LaFayette, NY 13084.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Hospice of Buffalo and to the Music Department of WACS.
