Obituary of Huey R. Williams

Huey R. Williams, Sr., 65, of Syracuse, passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2017, at his home surrounded by his loving children. Huey (Dog), as he's known to some, was born in Oviedo, FL, where he spent the majority of his life until he moved to Goshen, NY, to be with the love of his life, his then wife. He was the only son of the late Huey Wilson and Minnie Lee Williams. Huey is survived by his children, April Milton (Oviedo, FL), Danielle Milton (Oviedo, FL), Lillian Green, James Haywood (Houston, TX), Tara Green (Houston, TX), Huey (Raven)Williams, Jr. (Syracuse , NY), Minnie Williams (Middletown, NY), and Jashua J. Williams; daughter-in-law, Jillian Snedden-Williams (Syracuse, NY); 20 Grandchildren; one Great-Grandchild; and many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Brothers-in-Law, Sisters-in-Law, Nieces and Nephews; and, a near and dear friend/Partner of his for the past 13 years, Helen Harris. The Smalls- You are very special to him! In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his Wife, Diane E. Green, and many other loving family members. Huey was a proud US Army Veteran, serving in the Vietnam Era. He was very devoted to and employed at the Syracuse VA Hospital. He was a true family man and loved to fish in his free time. He also had a very GREEN thumb—he loved to garden in the summer. He also was an outstanding cook and baker. Huey was also very active in AA, where he earned many years in sobriety and served as a sponsor to others to help support them in the battle of addiction. He was a man that you just had to love! Full of life and would do anything for anyone. Services will be Monday, July 17, 2017, at 11:30 a.m. at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, 4612 S. Salina Street, Syracuse. Calling hours will be from 9:30 a.m. until the start of the service at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Syracuse.
