Obituary of Edward James Uhlig

Edward James Uhlig, 71, of "The Valley" in Syracuse, NY, passed away Friday, May 19, 2017 at Upstate University Hospital. Ed retired as a Sergeant with the Syracuse Police Department after 30 years of service. He also served in the Marine Corps from 1968 - 1972. Ed was a communicant of St. James Church, a member of the Syracuse PBA and Syracuse Police Retirees. He was Post Commander of American Legion Valley Post 1468. Surviving are his wife, Cynthia Gates Uhlig; a son, Jason (Katie) Uhlig; a brother, John Uhlig of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; a sister, Pat Litz of Greenfield, PA and his granddaughter, Grace Uhlig. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Syracuse, NY. Calling hours will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 22, 2017 at the funeral home 4612 South Salina Street. Syracuse, NY 13205.
