Sehl Burns Funeral Service

At Sehl Burns Funeral Service, we help families create meaningful memorials for their loved ones. In a respectful and caring environment, we will walk you through the process of pre-planning and service arrangements for funerals, options for cremations or burials, and steps for choosing the perfect monument.

About Us

Sehl Burns understands service. People and relationships are his most important investments, and that is why Sehl has built his career on serving Central New York families in their time of need.

Sehl is a fourth generation Burns in the funeral industry. He is named after his uncle, Sehl Burns, who was a well known funeral director in Syracuse. Sehl is married to Linda and they have made their home in this community. Together, they have seven children.

Sehl is a Syracuse native: a graduate of Nottingham High School and Onondaga Community College. His education continued at Brockport State University and Simmons School of Mortuary Science in Syracuse. Sehl’s intimate knowledge of the area and the diverse education he received here have made him particularly suited to connect with the community.

For Sehl, investing in his community means time and involvement. Sehl is an active member of the Marine Corps League Detachment 225 Syracuse Chapter, Rotary Club of DeWitt, Central New York Funeral Directors Association, and the New York State Funeral Directors Association. He was heavily involved and worked tirelessly to reopen the former Syracuse Technical High School, and as an honor, named the new school The Institute of Technology at Syracuse Central.

In 2008, Sehl teamed up with Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Homes, which has been serving the Syracuse area since 1912, to broaden the range of services he provides. As part of a growing city, and a member of the community, Sehl Burns and the staff at Ballweg & Lunsford are right here with you.

Our Services

Since 2008, Sehl Burns has partnered with Ballweg & Lunsford in sharing resources in order to better serve families in their time of need. Funeral consultations can be held in your home or at either of Ballweg & Lunsford’s two locations. Planning can be made through pre-arrangement or can be made afterward by a loved one. Sehl will spend time discussing the details and options available to you, and any trusted individuals you wish to be present.

In making these arrangements, a number of options will become available. Throughout the process of navigating burial or cremation, calling hours, funeral services, and monument creation, Sehl will help you select the path that best honors your needs and wishes.
