Obituary of Richard W. Wallace
Richard W. Wallace (Dick), 78, of LaFayette passed away on January 14th at Menorah Park. He is predeceased by his parents, Nathan and Minnie Mae, and his siblings, Robert, Jean (Dolson), and Donald. Richard is survived by his children: Robert of Miami, FL; Jeffrey (Frank) of New York City; Jennifer (Susan) of Seattle, WA; Nikki of Grand Junction, CO; and Loni (Walter) Kantor of LaFayette; as well as grandchildren: Benjamin and William Kerrigan, and Adam, Elena, and Vladimir Kantor. He is also survived by his ex-wife, Elizabeth Wallace, of Syracuse.
Richard attended LaFayette High School and received his degree from Canton Tech. His professional career began at Carrier Corporation before starting his own electrical and contracting business, R.W.Wallace, Inc. Wallace was a member of the LaFayette Community Council and the LaFayette Board of Education. Later in life, he worked for the City of Syracuse in Code Enforcement and was a member of the Syracuse Up-Downtowners. He had love of family, travel, and adventure. The family ‘camp’ he built on Whitefish Lake in Ontario, Canada, became a retreat for family and friends who continue to revel in their memories of time spent there.
The Wallace family is grateful for the excellent care he received from the staff at Menorah Park. Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 18, from 11 am - 1 pm at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, 2584 Field Lane, LaFayette with a service at 1 pm. Burial to follow at LaFayette Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the World Wildlife Fund (worldwildlife.org) and The Foundation at Menorah Park (menorahparkofcny.com/donate).
