Obituary of Cecelia E. Long
Cecelia E. Long (Mackool), 95, passed away painlessly, and peacefully, on January 6, 2020; with her daughter by her side. The last of eight siblings, she was born in 1924 to the late Joseph and Cecelia (Ashkar) MacKool; and was a life long resident of Syracuse. She was a house wife and homemaker, and totally devoted to her family. Married in 1948, she was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Wilbur Long (78) in 2000.
She is survived by: her children, James, Arthur, Mark, and Cecelia; as well as three grandchildren: John, Peter, and Sara; three great grandchildren; a dozen nieces; and four nephews. All who knew her, saw her indomitable spirit combined with a beautiful, loving, caring, and gentle soul. May she rest in peace next to our departed father. We miss you so much, Mom.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2020, from 5 -7 pm, at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Syracuse. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, January 13, at 10 am at Our Lady of Hope Church, 4845 S. Salina St., Syracuse; burial will follow at Onondaga Valley Cemetery.
