Obituary of Jane M. Webster

Jane M. Webster of the Valley, passed away peacefully at her home on January 28th. She was born on July 1, 1934 in County Mayo, Ireland to Thomas and Dorothy Moran. She was raised on the family farm near Manchester, England. When she was 18, her father put her on a ship ( don't call it a boat) and sent her to live with his sisters in America to make a better life for herself. She met one aunt in New York City who took her to her other aunt in Syracuse, New York.
Jane got her first job with New York Telephone Company where she met her husband, Richard. This year, they would have been married for 65 years. Together, they raised five children. She was a loving, devoted mother who was always active and involved in school and church activities. She was a member of Mother's club, Altar and Rosary Society and a Girl Scout leader. As her children got older, she worked for Orchid Dry Cleaners. After retirement, Jane was often seen walking her dogs all over the Valley. She was an active member of Our Lady of Hope Parish (formerly St. James Church) for 63 years.
Jane was predeceased by her parents, brothers (Thomas, Allan and Patrick) sisters (Cissy and Kathleen) and granddaughter, Sarah.
She is survived by husband, Richard; her children: Jeanne (Steve) Townsend, David (Barbara) Webster, Kathleen (DeWitt) Benjamin, Lisa Webster and Paul (Joanne) Webster; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; sister Mary of Ireland, niece Patricia (Max) Edwards of Wales, UK.
