Obituary of Beatrice V. Shetler

         Beatrice Virginia (Downes) Shetler passed away peacefully on Wednesday March 25, 2020 at Cortland Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility in Cortland, New York.   Born September 15, 1920 to Ira and Annie (Carey) Downes in Salisbury, Maryland.  She was educated in the Wicomico School system and worked as an office manager at a stationery store.  She met her husband Casper during WW II when he was stationed with the Coast Guard in Ocean City, Maryland.  They married on April 3, 1944 and moved to Tully, New York where Casper grew up. Together they built a home and raised three children on Tully Farms Road.  They celebrated 74 years of marriage. 

         Bea worked for many years as a demonstrator then supervisor for Dutchmaid Clothing.  She could always be found in the kitchen cooking or baking and always took great pleasure in feeding all who came to the door. 

         Bea was predeceased by her husband Casper, sons Terry and Thomas.  Predeceased by her parents Ira and Annie Downes, siblings May Budd, Catherine Fitzgerald, Walter Downes, Sadie Shores, Mattie Yarnell, Ada Fields, Edith Tingle and Betty Banks.  She is survived by her daughter Judith (Andrew) Baker, granddaughters Deborah (Christopher) Barnhart, Stephanie (David) Cimineri and great granddaughter Ella Cimineri as well as several nieces and nephews.

         There will be no calling hours.  Burial in South Onondaga Cemetery, South Onondaga, New York  will be private at the convenience of the family.  Arrangements with Ballweg and Lunsford Funeral Home, LaFayette, New York.
