Norma Wilensky

Obituary of Norma Wilensky

Norma Wilensky, 65, peacefully transitioned to her eternal home on Thursday, August 27,2020, after a very courageous battle with cancer.

The daughter of the late Norman and Dorothy (Cherchio) Wilensky, Norma was born and raised in the Syracuse Valley area. She was a graduate of Corcoran High School and later developed in her career as a cardiac surgical tech at Upstate Hospital. Norma spent the entirety of her adult life in service to others. She found fulfillment in helping her many patients in the operating room, hosting kids workshops as part of her job at Home Depot and volunteering many hours at Loretto Nursing Home.

Norma had a special love of animals-especially her own beloved dogs, cats and horse. Most nice days she could be seen working in her yard, and enjoyed close connections with her neighbors- who were more like family. Norma enjoyed taking day trips, playing cards and visiting the casino. She was beginning to develop her culinary skills- pouring over and experimenting with new recipes, often sharing the meal with several of her neighbors. Norma cared for others deeply, faithfully acknowledging and celebrating their special days.

She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. A special thanks to “Team Norma”, Upstate Cancer Center and The Francis House for the care and compassion shown to Norma over the past weeks and months.

Donations in Norma's honor can be made to Upstate Hospital, CNY SPCA or Pet Haven Cemetery: 4501 W. Seneca Turnpike, Syracuse, NY 13215

A private graveside memorial was held for Norma on September 8. Online condolences for Norma's family may be left on the funeral home website.
