Obituary of Anna Jawesh Vanetti
Anna Jawesh Vanetti was born in Onondaga County at the County Home and Hospital on July 21, 1934 and passed on September 11, 2020 she lived in the Syracuse area all her life. Anna was predeceased by her parents Harry J. Jawesh (Shawish) and Elizabeth F. Dwyer Jawesh, her sister Marie Robinson Burke, her son Michael R. Vanetti, her grandson Adam J. Goodman and her nephew Wayne A. Robinson. Anna graduated in 1952 from the Cathedral Academy and she also attended OCC. She was a former DRE (Director of Religious Education), Altar Rosary President, Eucharistic Minister and on the Liturgical Committee for the Parish Council, Secretary for the Vicar of the Western Region and the Western Region Religious Education Department of the Diocese of Syracuse, Bursar at Christian Brothers Academy and during retirement worked for the Central New York Teaching Center and the Onondaga Central School District. Member of AIPB, Anna was also a member of the Red Hat Society and went by the name “Hotsie Totsie”. Anna took great joy in her children, the beautiful state of New York, travel, hot air balloon rides, home and garden. She enjoyed organizing the reunions at the Cathedral Academy, “Class of 1952” with the help of her classmates and their life long lasting friendships.
Survived by her daughters: Therese A. Vanetti, Suzanne V. Freeman and Christina JV Goodman and her surviving son Damian J. Vanetti (Amy). Twelve grandchildren: Zaccariah Vanetti, Timothy Vanetti, Maria Vanetti Maloof (Joseph), Ryan Meath, Gunnery Sgt. Joseph Freeman (Allison), Aleah Freeman, Isaac J. Goodman, Megan, Micaela, Allie and Ava Vanetti, 4 great grandchildren: Mya and Jacob Maloof, Hadley and Jovie Freeman. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Carol (Michael) Vanetti, her nieces Arlene (Michael) Shanahan, JeanMarie Robinson and Cherie (Wayne) Robinson and several great nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Saturday, Sept. 19 from 10AM – 12PM at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, 4612 S. Salina St., Syracuse, NY. Services will immediately follow at 12PM at the funeral home.
