Obituary of Barbara J. Wesley

Barbara “Jeannie” Wesley, 77, of Jamesville, passed away at home, surrounded by her loving family, on February 22, 2021. She was born in Syracuse in 1944 to the late Gerald and Margaret (McDonald) McGee. Jeannie graduated from St. Lucy’s Academy and went on to receive a degree in accounting. She spent time working in the Bursar’s Office at OCC, and then retired from the Onondaga County Comptroller’s Office after more than 25 years of employment.

Jeannie was an avid crafter and excellent seamstress. She loved to travel and get together with family and friends. She and Bill, Sr. would frequent the Town of Onondaga Senior Center for breakfast and socializing. She sought out adventures at any casino near, or far- especially for the slots and Bingo. She was proud of, and celebrated her Irish roots and ancestry. Jeannie loved her family more than anything.

She is survived by: husband, William H. Wesley, Sr.; children, William (Heidi) Wesley, Jr., Laurie Couse; grandchildren, Trista Kukucka, Angela Wesley, Brendan and Trevor Couse; sister, Patricia Porillo; several nieces, and nephews. She is predeceased by: brother, Gerry McGee, and sister Peggy Isbell.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 25, from 4 pm to 6 pm at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Syracuse. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, February 26 at 10 am at St. Lucy’s Church, Syracuse. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
