Obituary of Martin D. Santy

Marty Santy, 69, of Clay, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 18, 2021. A graduate of ESM High School (Class of 1970), Marty was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the US Navy, who went on to be a local radio personality for 40 plus years.  In 1985 Marty and his son Jimmy started the Music Machine where he DJ’d thousands of weddings, local car cruises, as well as nightclubs and bars. He had a love for music and entertainment, a larger than life personality, and a voice that was recognized everywhere he went. He was able to make everyone he came into contact with feel like family by the time they left. Marty loved SU Basketball, classic cars, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and spending time with his family.
  Marty was predeceased by his parents, Anthony and June (Menninger) Santy.  He is survived by: his son, Jimmy Santy Sr. (Karen Yonkers-Santy).; grandchildren, Jimmy Jr. and Malarie Santy, Cortney VanOrden, Maxwell Yonkers and Samuel Yonkers; two sisters, Donna Wymore and Doris (James) Stoddard; niece and nephew, Emily and Nick Stoddard; aunt and uncles, Carmen Sylvester (who is almost 101 years old!),  Lucille and Phil Mickelson and Burt and Linda Menninger; and most importantly his beloved cat, Big Bertha, who hates everyone except Marty! 

The family will host a “Tribute to The Great Marty Santy - One Last Song & Dance”, on Saturday, April 24th from  2pm - 10pm at the Tigris Shrine located at 1121 Milton Ave, Syracuse, NY 13204.   In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Tigris Shrine (315) 308-0410.
