Anne J. Lester, 88, of Syracuse, formerly of Knoxville, TN and Sunset Beach, NC; passed away peacefully on April 27, 2021, with her loving family by her side. She was born in Brooklyn in 1932 to the late Kaj Olsen and Helga (Rasmussen) Holmelund.
Anne received her Masters of Architecture from the University of Virginia, and went on to become a Professor of Landscape Architecture. This brought Anne around the world and back many times, to design gardens, and show her pupils the works she appreciated. Anne left an incredible mark on this world and was cherished by those who were fortunate enough to be part of her life.
She is predeceased by: her husband, Bill S. Lester in 2016; and her sister, Else Holmelund Minarick Bigart. Anne leaves behind: cousins, Grace Gurdin, Kim Siddall, Barbara Hellmers, Leif Gurdin, Nils Siddall, Matthew Hellmers; dear friends and caregivers, "Carol One" Cavalluzzi, and "Carol Two" Warren; her pride and joy, George the Westie; various family in Denmark; and good friend, Kip Howard, of California.
One hour of calling will be held on Wednesday, May 5 at 6 pm, at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Syracuse, NY.
