So sorry to lose such a great guy, dedicated conservationist, and fellow beaver enthusiast. We enjoyed Dick's company whether talking engineering, the natural world, or his many other areas if interest. We will miss seeing him in his favorite habitat - the north shore of Oneida Lake.

My condolences to you all, the very extended Schoeck family. I was sorry to hear Dick had passed, although I was aware he wasn't well. I also know how much he missed his 'camp'. I was there as a young boy when he, his father, and my uncle (Michael Knabel) worked to excavate the pond and built the first cabin. what a mess that was in 1949. I have been there many times since. I last saw Dick four years ago when he was reasonably well. He is my second cousin, and I've known him essentially all my life, even though we lived in the New York City area, and only visited Syracuse occasionally.
Traveling is difficult for me these days (I just turned 81), and I very much wanted to be with you for the funeral, but it wasn't possible. I remember him for his wry sense of humor, and good natured teasing. About twenty years ago he gave me a truck load of cherry wood he had harvested from his land. I made some furniture of it for my house (he visited once) and it's an ongoing reminder of him, the camp, and the many family gatherings we had there years and years ago.
May he rest in peace, and all of you be well.

My sisters and I are so sorry to hear about Mr. Schoeck’s passing. We are making a monetary donation to the Purpose Farm in Baldwinsville, NY in memory of Mr. Schoeck. The Purpose Farm matches children with disabilities with animals on the farm that have been rescued. The purpose farm had a devastating barn fire recently. We thought a donation would be a good memory for Mr. Schoeck given his love for animals and children. Priscilla Adolph, Robin Diebold and Jennifer Stelmack.

When I hit a tree driving the tractor, grandpa's biggest concern was lovingly tending to the tree. Thank you for teaching me to care for nature. Join in honoring their life - plant a memorial tree

Dear Schoeck Family,
I am very sorry for the loss of your father. Mr. Schoeck was always very kind and generous to me. During my youth he allowed me an opportunity to do some summer work at his site developments and it was truly appreciated. I fondly remember the days of helping my father fix equipment at the Schoeck barn - those were great times. Rest in peace Mr. Schoeck.
Sincerely,
Tom Trytek

I am saddened to hear that the man who has accomplished more in his retirement years than I have in my life has passed away. I am eternally grateful to Dick for his belief and passion of nature. The Paul and Theresa Schoeck Education Building is a testament to this passion. Classroom teachers, students, Scouts, 4-H members, families, children and the general public learn so much about nature the minute they step foot into the building that Dick built. I always treasured our debates on the rehabilitation of a specific New York State mammal. He will be missed. My condolences. Linda Brosch,
