Catherine (Shirley) Homer, 85, of Syracuse, died peacefully on Tuesday June 1st at Community Hospital, with loved ones by her side. She was born in Scranton, PA to the late John and Agnes Bowser.
Shirley graduated from Central High School in Syracuse in 1953. She and her husband Harry were married for 68 years. They originally lived in the Valley and later built a home in Lafayette where they then lived for 45 years. Shirley worked many years for and later retired from Agway Insurance company in Dewitt. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially on travels to Maine and Florida.
Survivors include Shirley's Husband, Harrison (Harry) R. Homer; sons, Harrison C. (Judy) Homer of Lafayette and Bill (Maureen) Homer of Fanwood, NJ; daughter, Shirley Davis of Syracuse; brother, Doug Bowser of McComb, MS; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Shirley was predeceased by her sister Anne Brooks of Syracuse. Calling hours will be Tuesday June 8th from 12-1PM at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow immediately at the funeral home, 4612 S. Salina Street, Syracuse. Burial will be in White Chapel Memory Gardens, DeWitt.
