Obituary of Helen Harriet Thayer

Helen Harriet (Pickering) Thayer, 87, of East Syracuse, passed on Wednesday, June 23rd. after a lengthy illness surrounded by her family. She was born April 7, 1934 in Saranac Lake, NY.  She took great pride working in the food service industry and volunteered at numerous churches in Syracuse.  

She was predeceased by her parents, Laura Stevens Pickering and Curtis Pickering; special cousin, Eleanor Grace; sister, Penny and brother, Keith.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Milton Thayer; three children, Pamela Furdyn (Dr. Hewitt Lang) Lang, Valerie (Jack) Leonard, her loving son, William (devoted Mary Ann Elliott) Furdyn; five grandchildren, Lauren (Ryan) Lang McFadden, Jordan (Erin Jaeger) Lang, Chase Lang, Melissa (Aaron Miller) Furdyn and William J. Furdyn; one great grandson, Milo; four stepsons, Brian (Cindy) Thayer, Keith (Elaine) Thayer, Dale (Danielle) Thayer and Kevin (Heather) Thayer, brothers, Curt Pickering, John (Anna) Pickering, sister, Gale (Michael) Craig and sister in-law Jean Pickering; niece, Sandy Piascik; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Calling Hours will be held on Friday, June 25, 2021 from 4-7PM at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Syracuse, NY.  Services are private.
