Obituary of Almando Luis Martinez

Almando “Mando” Luis Martinez, 34, of Syracuse, received his wings on September 7^th, after a 3 year long battle with cancer. Mando never gave up and fought until the end with his mom by his side.

Born August 8, 1987 to Linda and Ivan Martinez, he was the love of their lives. Mando attended Nottingham High School where he played on the football and lacross team. After school Mando lived a carefree life until August of 2009 when he attended NTTS graduating in 2010 with top honors. He was also a member of “ KEEPIN IT REAL, DA FAMILY” since 2009.

Mando was employed with Saunders now Hanson Concrete and then moved on to become a Centro Bus driver, which he loved. He was the life of anywhere he went and loved being with family. Mando enjoyed hunting, fishing and the Buffalo Bills. He loved watching the games with his mom.

Besides his parents, Mando is survived by his son, Aidan Johnson of DeWitt; daughter, Skye Martinez of Syracuse; step sister, Rosa Pickard of Baldwinsville; step brother, Ivan Jr. of Florida; his beloved special friend, Suzanna Padilla of Syracuse; 1 niece; 3 nephews; several aunts, uncles and  cousins.

Calling hours will be held from 4 PM to 6 PM on Monday, September 13, at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, 4612 S. Salina St., Syracuse. A funeral service will be held the follow day, Tuesday September 14 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Onondaga Valley Cemetery.
