Burt was my cousin-in-law, as Margaret was my cousin. He was also more of a son to my father than I was. My father had a stroke in 2001, and Burt visited him nearly everyday for a year and a half to tend to his needs. I was living in California, and was only able to close my business and go to Syracuse for a couple of weeks every season. I am forever grateful to Burt for what he did.
When I told Burt this, I think it pleased him, but as usual he made light of it, and said that he only did what I would have done in his place.
I have many pleasant memories of my father and wife visiting Burt and Margie at what my dad used to call "Windswept Acres."
