Obituary of Michael John Kociuba

Michael Kociuba, 62, passed away unexpectedly on September 13. He grew up in the Valley and was a graduate of Corcoran High School. He was also a proud recipient of a Mechanical Engineering degree, and worked as a Steamfitter for Carrier for most of his life. In his younger days Mike loved to play hockey, golf, and fish.

Few knew that he was also an amazing artist who could draw life-like portraits. Mike spent summers at the river with his parents, and then with his own family. He loved driving his boat to race across the river, sometimes pretending to fall out next to larger tour boats- just for a laugh. He was a proud father of two daughters, and grandfather of five. He would often tell anyone who would listen, just how much he loved and adored his family.

Anyone who knew Mike knows that he loved to kick back and have a few beers with his friends, tell stories about the past, ride his motorcycle, play pool, or darts. Mike was always there for anyone when they needed him. In life, his greatest happiness came from spoiling those he loved, whenever he could. He often gave all that he had and did so, gladly. Michael had a large personality and the world feels emptier without him. His smile and laugh will be greatly missed by those that loved him.

Michael was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Marilyn Kociuba. He is survived by: his loving daughters, Jamie (Paul) Erickson, Lindsay (Sean) Ahern; sister, Lynn Kociuba; and grandchildren, Molly, Sagan, Madeleine, Margaret, and Nicholas. "We love you Daddy, always and forever".

A celebration of Mike's life will be held on Sunday September 19, 2021 from 12 Noon to 4 pm, at the American Legion, Post 239, 3808 Jordan Road, Skaneateles.
