Virgina Poole

Obituary of Virgina Stack Poole

Virginia A. (Stack) Poole, 95, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully at her own home of nearly 60 years, with her loving family by her side. She was a life long resident of Syracuse, having been born here in 1926 to the late Thomas and Anna M. (Guyette) Stack. During her childhood she spent summers at the Troop K Road farm in Fayetteville. Here, her father trained horses for Calvary use, and Virginia has many fond memories of her time at the stables.

After graduating from Onondaga Valley Academy, she was employed at Crucible Steel, and NY Telephone Co.. She met the love of her life, Francis "Tex" Poole, and they married in 1949. Together they raised a family of six children, whom she devoted her life to. For 60 years she played a crucial role in the upbringing of her children and grandchildren- constantly making lunches, sending them to school, and eagerly awaiting their arrival back home.

Virginia enjoyed baking, knitting, sewing, ceramics, and spending time with her family. Virginia and "Tex" travelled all over North America due to "Tex's" position with the CWA Union; as well as to experience family camping trips. Virginia has made a deep impact on her children's lives, and they will all miss her very much.

She has left to mourn her passing: children, Christopher (Patricia) Poole, Lorraine (Case) Smeenk, Theresa Poole Bazarian, Andrea Poole Nolan, Margaret Poole (Forrest) Todd; 13 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sister, Anna "Tommy" Kelley; several nieces; and nephews. Along with her parents, she is predeceased by: her husband of 44 years, Francis "Tex" Poole; son, Stephen Poole; and sisters, June Hecker and Dorothy Leamy.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, April 2 from 11 am to 1 pm, at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Syracuse. A brief memorial service will follow. Burial will be private.
