Obituary of Hugh J. Hawkins Sr.

Hugh J. Hawkins Sr., 71, of Jamesville, NY passed away peacefully on Saturday May 7, 2022, after a brief illness.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lucy (Jones), his sons, Hugh Jr. and his wife Nicole of Boston, MA, Matthew and his wife Kellie of Dallas, NC, his brother John, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Ralph Sr. and Martha, and brothers Ralph Jr., and Martin.

He was born in Baltimore, MD although the family moved several times in his youth eventually settling in Central New York. He went to school in LaFayette for many years before graduating from Jamesville-DeWitt High School in 1968. His career was in the automotive parts industry, where he met a number of friends along the way. His interests and hobbies included shortwave radio, keeping up with technology, watching classic movies and TV, listening to classic rock, astronomy, and politics. He enjoyed playing trumpet for the LaFayette Community Band and was also known for his unique sense of humor. He was a great son, husband, father, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, brother-in-law, friend, co-worker and neighbor.
