Obituary of Catherine Wells
Catherine ( Cathy, Rena) Wells, 100, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 28, 2022. She was born in Glasgow, Scotland to Walter and Catherine (Kate) Strachan. They immigrated to America when she was 3, settling in the Buffalo area.
In 1949 Catherine married her husband of 49 years, Robert (Bob) V. Wells. Job transfers moved them across the state to Canandaigua, Ithaca and finally Pompey, where she has lived for the past 55 years.
Cathy was a active member of the Pompey Community Church for 55 years, the Pompey Hill Fire Department's Ladies Auxiliary for 54 years and the Board of Elections for the Town of Pompey for 30 years. She also worked for the United States Postal System for 20 years.
Cathy is predeceased by her husband Bob, her parents, her siblings William (Jim) Strachan, Christine Pirdy and Margaret Strachan and two precious Great Grandbabies.
She is survived by her daughter, Audrey (Ken) Hubbell, and son John. Grandsons Matthew and wife Lisa Hubbell and Michael and wife Sarah Hubbell. Great Granddaughters Kayla Joy Hubbell and her baby sister whose arrival is imminent and several loved nieces and nephews. She is also survived by friends and community that she loved dearly.
Burial will be private at Pompey Hill cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Pompey Community Church on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 11:30 am.
