Obituary of Marilyn J. Smith

Marilyn J. (German) Smith, 81, longtime resident of LaFayette, NY, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at home. She was born in Syracuse, NY, the daughter of the late George M. and Mary T. (Rolince) German and attended Onondaga Central High School. Marilyn owned the Countryside Inn and LaFayette Dry Cleaners and worked many years at O'Neill's Orchard. She was a member of Fabius Pompey Seniors. Marilyn is survived by her sons, John F. Greeley Jr. (Kathleen) of LaFayette, NY and Jerome F. Greeley of Syracuse, NY; daughters, Kathleen M. Crumb of Florida and Linda M. Sommers (Stephen) of Fabius, NY; sister, Marie D. Hoyt (Burt) of LaFayette, NY; foster son, David J. Spagnualo; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert M. Smith and brother, George S. German. A calling hour will be held Saturday, March 10, 2018 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Hope, (formerly St. James Church), 4845 S. Salina Street, Syracuse, NY 13205 with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:45 a.m. in the church. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery Mausoleum, DeWitt, NY.
