Obituary of Robert C. Watson

Robert "Doc" C. Watson, age 80, of LaFayette, New York, died Wednesday, May 29, 2002 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Syracuse, New York. Mr. Watson was born January 13, 1922 in Edwards, New York, the son of Leone and Evelyn (Barraford) Watson. He attended Canton Agricultural & Technical College, Cornell University and Syracuse University. He retired in 1980 after 34 years as an Agriculture Teacher for the LaFayette and Tully Central School Districts. He was president of the Agriculture Teachers Asociation of New York. He was the Town of LaFayette Supervisor for 10 years and he operated a Sugar Bush with his family for 18 years. He was the Business Manager for the Three City News, was on the New York State Veterinary Board, was a member of the Soil & Water Conservation Committee and a lifetime member of the Republican Party. He was an Elder & Deacon at Columbian Presbyterian Church. He stayed active in Future Farmers of America, the Future Farmers of America Alumni, the February Farm Show, Alumni Toy Auction, Empire Farm Days and Farm Machinery Club. He was Superintendant of the Future Farmers of American's Machinery Building and the Farm Barnyard at the State Fair. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, the former Claire Warner; two daughters: Carol Oot and Janice Watson both from LaFayette, New York; two sons: Gregory R. Watson from Tully, New York and Kurt Watson from LaFayette, New York; two sisters: JoAnne Orford and Marlene Watson both from Governour, New York; one brother: Roderick Watson from Pennsylvania; 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Memorial Service: Sunday, June 2, 2002, 4:00 p.m. in Columbian Presbyterian Church, LaFayette, New York, with Rev. John Kloepfer officiating.
