Obituary of Ruth Gladys Burr

Ruth Gladys Burr, age 86, of 1283 W. Valley Road, Preble, New York died Thursday, February 28, 2002 at Kingston Hospital, Kingston, New York. Mrs. Burr was born January 9, 1916 on the Onondaga Nation, the daughter of Charles and Daisy (Webster) LaForte. She was the wife of Robert Ward Burr Sr. who passed away in 1987. She graduated in 1934 from Blodgette Vocational High School where she was class Valedictorian. She was very active in the Higher Education Program in Syracuse, served on the Human Rights Committee and was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd on the Onondaga Nation. She was a Turtle Clan Mother on the Oneida Indian Nation and the eight descendant of Ephram Webster. She is survived by two daughters: Rae-Ellen Bandera from Syracuse, New York and Rosanne Jones from Liverpool, New York; two sons: Robert W. Burr Jr. from Preble, New York and Michael W. Burr from Bordino, New York; 16 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. Funeral: Tuesday, March 5, 2002, 10:00 a.m. at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Inc., 4612 S. Salina Street, Syracuse, New York with Father Thomas Hayes officiating. Spring Burial: Saturday, May 11, 2002, 10:00 a.m. in Jacksonville Cemetery, Lysander, New York. Calling Hours: Sunday, March 3, 2002, 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. and Monday, March 4, 2002, 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Inc., Syracuse, New York.
