Obituary of Doris I. Ackerson

Doris I. Ackerson, age 79, of Syracuse, New York died Sunday, February 24, 2002 at Loretto Nuring Home in Syracuse. Ms. Ackerson was born March 5, 1922, in Hancock, New York, the daughter of Thomas and Blanche (Barnard) Ackerson. She was raised in Binghamton, New York and graduated from Binghamton North High School. She has resided in Syracuse since retiring in 1984. She served in the Women's Army Corps from 1953 to 1963 and served in Paris, France with NATO. She worked for 20 years as a Civil Service employee with the Department of the Air Force at the Pentagon, Washington, DC. She was a licensed Geneologist. She is survived by four nieces, Pamela K. Johnson from Syracuse, New York, Phyllis Lewis from Clay, New York, Patricia Nead from Roscoe, New York, Margie Seybert from New Jersey; one nephew, Steven L. Johnson from Auburn, New York; 11 great nieces & nephews, and several great-great nieces & nephews. Funeral: Saturday, March 2, 2002, 10:00 a.m. in Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1601 Park Street, Syracuse with Rev. Ed Thornburg officiating. Burial will be in Chenango Valley Cemetery, 120 Nowlan Road, Binghamton, New York.
