Obituary of Mary M. DeGroote

Mary M. DeGroote, 75, of LaFayette, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2018, at Loretto. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Leland and Lena Sitnik DeGroote. In 2002, Mary retired from University Hospital, where she worked as a nurse's aide for 16 years. In her free time, Mary loved camping at River Forest Campgrounds. Mary is survived by her children, Ronald "Chip" (Gail) Alexander II of Kirkville, NY, Daniel (Carol) Alexander of LaFayette, NY, and Kelly (John) Bergman of LaFayette, NY; brothers, Joseph (Tanya) DeGroote and Peter DeGroote; sisters, Martha Straub and Margaret DeGroote; grandchildren, Jason Alexander, Corrine Parker, John Bergman Jr., and Autumn Carpenter; great-grandchildren, Haley Bell Parker, Braden Alexander, Hunter Carpenter, Brantley Carpenter and James Bergman; and her beloved dog, Annie. Calling hours will be Thursday, March 1, 2018, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, 2584 Field Lane, LaFayette, NY 13084. A funeral service will be held Friday, March 2, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Onondaga Valley Cemetery, Syracuse, NY.
