Obituary of Vielda Belle Austin Gregg

Mrs. Vielda B. Gregg, 87, of 2208 State Route 11A, Lafayette, NY, wife of Charles Gregg, Jr., died Sunday afternoon, February 18, 2018, in the Crouse Hospital, Syracuse, NY after a very brief illness. Mrs. Charles Gregg was born, December 12, 1930 in Sempronius, NY, daughter of the late, Glenn Elihu Tinker, Sr. and Catherine Augusta Wooldridge. Since 1980 she resided in Cardiff, Town of Lafayette, NY, prior to that, she has resided in Preble, Homer and Sempronius, NY. She was employed in 1947 by Marathon Line Co. (Cortland), in 1950s, 1960s employed by Durkees Bakery (Homer) and then 1970s-2010 she was a very active as a Craft Show participant (Crafts: Needle point, knitting, crocheting, quilts, making dolls and making doll houses) and she was also a housewife. Vielda most treasured past times were Rail Road excursions, Country Music Shows (in Cortland, NY and Nashville, TN), attending the New York State Fairs, making/selling her craft products and the last but not the least, taking and collecting numerous family photographs. She is survived by her husband, Charles Gregg, Jr of Cardiff; her son, Benjamin L. (Patricia) Tinker of Homer; three daughters, Beth A. Austin of Syracuse, Annette R. Moffitt of Fayetteville and Rebecca G. Gregg of Cardiff; three brothers, Glenn E. Tinker, Jr of PA, Melvin E. Tinker of Homer and Roger L. (LeVerna) Tinker of Scott. She is survived by eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Veronica B. (Tinker) Ostrander Smith and a brother, Jefferson Lew Tinker, I. In keeping with Vielda Gregg's wishes there will be no funeral services. The family is planning a memorial service to be held during May 2018. Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, 2584 Field Ln, LaFayette, NY is assisting the family with the final arrangements.
