Obituary of Mary E. (Hoke) Field

Mary H. Field, 79, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Iroquois Nursing Home. She was a lifetime resident of LaFayette, NY, and married her high school sweetheart, Philip. They raised their three children in the loving home they had built together. Mary retired from LaFayette Central Schools, where she was a beloved teacher’s aide for many years. She touched the lives of many children over the course of her career.

Mary is predeceased by her parents Robert and Mary Hoke of Jamesville, and one sister, Karen Jerome. Mary leaves behind: her loving husband of 59 years, Philip E. Field; children: Mark (Lynne) Field of Fulton, James (Melanie) Field of McGraw, and Mary Beth Cummings of Manlius; five grandchildren: Matthew (Hunter) Field, Philip Field, Allison Field, Marley Cummings, and Abigail Field; as well as two great grandchildren, Marcus and Emily Field. Mary is also survived by: four sisters, Cathy West, Dorothy Walter, Gale Mease, Carol Monroe; one brother Michael Hoke; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank all the wonderful caregivers that helped to keep Mary in her home for over two years, and the amazing staff at Iroquois Nursing Home.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 23 from 3 pm to 6 pm, at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, LaFayette. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 24 at 11 am at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home. Burial will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery in Dewitt.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations in Mary's name be made to: Grimshaw Elementary in LaFayette- to carry on her love of helping children.
