Obituary of Philip James Guilfoyle

Philip J. “Ootsie” Guilfoyle , 72, passed away peacefully on March 3. A lifelong resident of Syracuse, he was born in May of 1950 to the late Robert and Phyllis Guilfoyle. Philip was married to the love of his life, Cheryl "Bedite" for 44 years, and together they created a loving family. He was a Supervisor for the Department of Social Services for nearly 40 years. He was well known for his humor and wit, and was a mischievous Irishman. He enjoyed collecting antique canes, watching Comedy Central and Science Fiction, his wife's cooking, and spending time with his family. In addition to his wife who passed away in 2018, Philip was also predeceased by his daughter, Sharon in 2006. His memory will be cherished by his surviving daughter, Kathleen Tillich; grandchildren: Jennifer (Charles) Garbutt, Cameron (Teall) Tillich, and Miranda (Lissette) Tillich; as well as his great grandchildren: Amelia, Nico, Charlie, and Winifred. He also leaves behind three brothers, sister-in-laws; and many nieces and nephews. 
Calling hours will be held  from 1 to 3 PM on Saturday, March 11. at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, 4612 S. Salina St. Syracuse.
