Obituary of Rev. Alan Eddy
Reverend Alan Joseph Eddy, 66, of Otisco, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2018, as a result of complications from neurosarcoidosis. Alan was born in Jamestown, NY, to the late Alan Russell and Louise Eddy Carroll. A pastor of more than forty years and of four churches in Maryland, Ohio, and New York, Alan served as the minister at Otisco Christian Union Church since 1987 and spent many years as the Otisco Fire Department Chaplain. He was also a certified substance abuse counselor who dedicated himself to the healing of others at the Rescue Mission and at Tully Hill. Alan was a gifted, self-taught musician who enjoyed leading others in joyful song. He cared little for material things and, above all, treasured relationships and "sowing seeds that benefit others."
A devoted father and grandfather, Alan is survived by his three sons, Alan, John, and Daniel; daughters-in-law, Karin and Colleen; four grandchildren, Noah, Jane, Evelyn, and Wesley; sister and brother-in-law, Lorraine and Joseph Piacentini; and nieces, Mena and Anna. Throughout his life, Alan also assumed the care of several youth in need of refuge and loved them as his own. His loving sister Lorraine was by his side when he went to be with the Lord.
