Obituary of L. Edward Coppins

Leroy Edward "Ed" Coppins, 74, of Lafayette, New York died Friday, March 30, 2007 at home. Ed was born August 26, 1932 in Syracuse, New York, the son of John and Rose Alice (Van Slyke) Coppins. He left high school to join the Navy during the Korean Conflict and ultimately graduated from LaFayette High School in June of 2006. He retired from the Village of Tully DPW. He was a communicant of St. James Church and a member of LaFayette VFW. Ed was predeceased by a son, David Edward Coppins who was born May 5, 1966 and died May 12, 1966. Surviving are his wife, Betty Richardson Coppins; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen (Bill) Harries of Syracuse, New York and two granddaughters, Shannon and Patti-Jo Harries both of Syracuse, New York. Services: Monday, April 2, 2007, 8:30 a.m. at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, 4612 S. Salina Street, Syracuse, New York and 9:00 a.m. in St. James Church, 4845 S. Salina Street, Syracuse, New York. Burial with Military Honors: Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 4069 Howlett Hill Road, Syracuse, New York.
