Obituary of Doris Yackel

Doris Ash Yackel, 85, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 18, 2007 at Iroquois Nursing Home in Jamesville, New York. A life resident of Syracuse, New York, Doris was the daughter of the late Clarence and Ella Sarah (Vermilyea) Ash. She was employed at Chase Bank as an Assistant Manager and also worked at Literacy Volunteers of America. She was an active member of Atonement Lutheran Church, serving as a member of the Church Council, President and Treasurer of the Women of the ELCA, Treasurer of Appleseed Productions and was also Treasurer of New York State Women of the ELCA. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald F. Yackel in 1982. Doris is survived by three daughters, Jane (Gary) Richer of North Bend, Washington, Roberta Yackel and Christine Yackel both of Syracuse, New York; one son, Donald D. (Lisa) Yackel of Troy, New York; sisters-in-law, Veronica Ash and Veronica Yackel; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Memorial Service: Monday, March 26, 2007, 3:00 p.m. at Atonement Lutheran Church, 116 W. Glen Avenue, Syracuse, New York. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Atonement Lutheran Church Women of ELCA or the Atonement Memorial Fund, 116 W. Glen Avenue, Syracuse, NY 13205.
