Obituary of Elizabeth Mahaney

Elizabeth "Betty" Mahaney, 85 of Syracuse, New York, passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2007 at home following a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Elizabeth was born June 27, 1921 in Syracuse, New York, the daughter of Albert and Mildred (Seymour) Greene. She resided this past year at the Bernadine Apartments in Syracuse, after living in LaFayette, New York for 28 years. She was a graduate of Vocational High School in 1939, where she was Vice President of her senior class. She was active in the Valley Little League Auxiliary, Southern Hills Garden Club, the LaFayette Senior Citizens Group, Community General Hospital Volunteers, womens group at St. Josephs Church in LaFayette and a former member of Tanner Valley Golf Club. Her passion was being a homemaker for 60 years. Betty will be remembered for her devotion to her family and many friends. Betty was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Robert James "Bob" Mahoney who died in 1986; a sister, Mildred Pannenborg and a brother, Albert Greene. Surviving are five sons, Tim (Vivian) of Mundelein, Illinois, Mike (Marianna) of Bel Air, Maryland, Kevin (Barb) of Alpharetta, Georgia, Brian (Shawn) of Richland, New York and Jim (Linda) of Merrimack, New Hampshire. She leaves eight grandchildren, Maren, Ian, Dennis, Heather, Patrick, Courtney, Meghan and Alicia; five great grandchildren, Katie, Beth, William, Carleigh and Nicholas. She also is survived by two sisters, Genevieve Arndt of Syracuse, New York and Margaret Fancett of Dayton, Ohio; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Peg Greene. Services: Saturday, March 24, 2007, 10:30 a.m. in St. James Church, 4845 S. Salina Street, Syracuse, New York. Burial: Onondaga Valley Cemetery, 2500 Valley Drive, Syracuse, New York.
