Obituary of Jacob D. Zook

Jacob D. Zook, 85, of Syracuse, New York died Monday, March 12, 2007 at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse, New York. Jacob was born May 19, 1921 in Hagerstown, Maryland, the son of George A. and Gertrude (Martin) Zook. He retired in 1983 after 15 years as a social worker with the Onondaga County Health Department. He graduated from Syracuse University and continued study at SUNY Cortland. He was a communicant of St. James Church and was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp serving in WWII. He was predeceased by his wife, May Janis Zook in 1988. Jacob is survived by his daughter, Eva Zook of Syracuse, New York; four sons, Timothy J. (Jacqueline) Zook of Syracuse, New York, Greg (Kim) Zook of Syracuse, New York, Richard (Brenda) Zook of Otisco, New York and Stephan (Genny) Zook of Syracuse, New York; one sister, Dorothy Klish of Oneida, New York; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Services: 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 16, 2007 at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Inc. Syracuse, New York and 10:30 a.m. in St. James Church, 4845 S. Salina Street, Syracuse, New York where a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated. Spring Burial: St. Patrick's Cemetery, Otisco, New York.
