Obituary of Richard C. Meyer

Richard C. "Dick" Meyer, 79, of LaFayette, New York, passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at Loretto in Syracuse, New York. Born in Syracuse, New York, Richard was a graduate of both SUNY Potsdam and SUNY Cortland. He retired from the Onondaga Central School District following a 31 year career where he started as a teacher at Rockwell Elementary and continued for many years in the position of Principal at both the Rockwell Elementary and Wheeler Middle Schools, respectively. Richard was a talented and well respected bagpipe teacher and player with the Syracuse Kilties Bagpipe Band. He was a member of Columbian Presbyterian Church in LaFayette and was a member of the Masonic tradition. His first wife, the former Patricia Ann Smith (native of Throop, New York) passed away in 1997. Surviving him are: His wife of seven years, Rosmond E. OConnell Meyer; three sons, Robert (Jinny) Meyer of North Tonawanda, New York, James Meyer of San Francisco, California and Timothy (Jacqueline) Meyer of Pine City, New York; a daughter, Kathleen (Joe) McLean of Wales, Massachusetts; two step-daughters, Deborah (Alex) Juttner of Clarksville, Tennessee and Leona (Carl) McDonald of Washington, DC and 11 grandchildren.
