Obituary of Louis A. Fire

Louis A. Fire, 78 of LaFayette, New York died Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse, New York. Louis was born April 11, 1928 in Syracuse, New York, the son of Peter and Rachel (Ragusa) Fire. He retired from Auburn Steel in 1988 following 15 years of service as a machine operator. He previously worked for New York Central Railroad and was a carpet installer. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in LaFayette. Mr. Fire was a "Gentle Guy" who was an avid sports fan and enjoyed bowling, participating in several leagues in the Syracuse area. Surviving are his wife of 34 years, the former Margaret "Peggy" Kalil; two daughters, Theresa (Randy) Stevens of Liverpool, New York and Betty Lou Fire of Colorado; three sons, Mark (Elaine) Fire of Cortland, New York, David (Denise) Fire of Tully, New York and Danny Fire of Liverpool, New York; two sisters, Mary Fragola of Florida and Francie Fragola of Liverpool, New York; two brothers, Angelo (Dorothy) Fire of North Syracuse, New York and Peter Jr. (Janis) Fire of Florida; 15 grandchildren, several great-grand children, several nieces and nephews. Services: Monday, February 26, 2007, 9:15 a.m. at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, 2584 Field Lane, LaFayette, New York and 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 6136 Cherry Valley Turnpike (Route 20), LaFayette, New York. Entombment: St. Mary's Cemetery Mausoleum, 4100 E. Genesee Street, DeWitt, New York.
