Obituary of Marie L. Persse

Marie L. Persse, 93, life resident of Syracuse, New York, died Thursday, December 14, 2006 at Iroquios Nursing Home in Syracuse, New York. Marie was born June 25, 1913 in Syracuse, New York, the daughter of Charles and Irene (Hoffman) Latterner. She received her BA in English from Syracuse University and was a member of Gamma Phi Beta. She retired from the Syracuse City School District in 1973 following 35 years of service as an English Teacher. She was a member of Onondaga Valley Presbyterian Church and their Women's Group, The Valley Antiques Club and was an avid reader. Her husband, William C. Persse died in 1974. Surviving is her daughter and son-in-law, Christine (James) Luton of Liverpool, New York; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert (Wanda) Persse of Marcellus, New York and Douglas (Nancy) Persse of Satellite Beach, Florida; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Services: Tuesday, December 26, 2006, 11:00 a.m. in Onondaga Valley Presbyterian Church, 275 W. Seneca Turnpike, Syracuse, New York. Burial will be private. There will be no calling hours.
