Obituary of Mary H. DeKay

Mary H. DeKay, 79, of Syracuse, died Friday at home. Born April 15, 1927 in Syracuse, she was the daughter of the late Victor and Mary Wise Pack. She was a graduate of Assumption High School and previously worked as the Administrative Assistant to the President of Dey Brothers and as a Tax Advisor with the Internal Revenue Service. She was a communicant of St. James Church, a member of the Altar & Rosary Society and a member of the P.T.A.. Mrs. DeKay was an avid Syracuse University Football and Basketball fan. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren. Her husband Donald F. DeKay died in 2002 and her brother Arthur Pack died in 2004. Surviving are two sons; Donald (Patti) F. DeKay of Baldwinsville, New York and John (Katerina) P. DeKay of Onondaga Hill, New York, two daughters; Kathleen (David) A. Laubenstein and Sharon (Dr. James) P. Blanchfield both of Fayetteville, New York, a sister; Florence Fien of Rotondo West, Florida, nine grandchildren; Christine, Sara and James Laubenstein, Daniel and Kevin Blanchfield, Brian and Sean DeKay, Kristyn (Keith) Ewald and Matthew DeKay, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 24, 2006 at St. James Church 4845 S. Salina Street, Syracuse, New York. Burial will be in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 4069 Howlett Hill Road, Syracuse, New York. There will be no calling hours.
