Obituary of Henry P. Mike" Keiber

Henry P. "Mike" Keiber, Jr., 81, of "The Valley" in Syracuse, New York, died Monday, October 9, 2006 at Community General Hospital in Syracuse. Henry was born June 1, 1925 in Syracuse, New York, the son of Henry P. and Loretta S. (Renze) Keiber. He retired in 1981 after 33 years of service from Allied Chemical. He was also owner and operator of Keiber Kitchens of Syracuse for 35 years, retiring in 1991. He was a highly decorated Navy Air Corps veteran, serving in WW II. He was an aviation electrician and a blister gunner on a PBY. He was a life member of DAV, 40/8, Valley Men's Club, VFW in Baldwinsville and St. Paul's United Methodist Church. He was a life member and seven years Commander of Valley Legion Post 1468 and an avid blood donor, donating more than 18 gallons. He loved and lived for his family and grandchildren. Mike is survived by his wife of 60 years, Leonore Cox Keiber; two sons, Michael P. Keiber of Syracuse, New York and Steven B. Keiber of Constantia, New York; five daughters, Linda (John) Langdon of North Syracuse, New York, Cheryl L. Payne (Fiance, Richard Woodworth) of Syracuse, New York, Kathleen M. Powell of North Syracuse, New York, Susan E. (Richard) Cross of Tully, New York and Janice E. (Ralph) Pizzuto of Syracuse, New York; 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Karl Keiber and three sisters, Arlene Schond, Gloria Harris and Shirley Keiber. Services: Thursday, October 12, 2006, 11:00 a.m. at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, 4612 S. Salina Street, Syracuse, New York.
