Obituary of Ruth L. Newsholme

Ruth L. Newsholme, 78, of "The Valley" in Syracuse, New York died Friday at St. Camillus Health and Rehabilitation Center in Syracuse surrounded by family and compassionate caregivers. Born in Ambridge, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late George and Violet (Corle) Lucas. She was a graduate of Vocational High School in Baltimore, Maryland and began her career as a Medical Secretary in the Emergency Room at John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. She retired from the Physics Department at Syracuse University as secretary for Dr. Peter Bergmann in 1981 following 12 years of service. For many years she was a troop leader with Girl Scout Troop 620. She was a member of St. Andrew's of The Valley Church. She was predeceased by her sister Sarah Jane "Sally" Lucas. Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Donald E. Newsholme; a daughter, Deborah (Steven) Finette of Washington, D.C.; two brothers, Jack B. Lucas of Carlisle, Pennsylvania and Robert D. Lucas of Connecicut; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Service: Tuesday, September 19, 2006, 11:00 a.m. at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Inc., 4612 S. Salina Street, Syracuse, New York.
