Obituary of Philip C. Bailey

Philip C. (Beetle) Bailey, 65, of LaFayette, New York, died Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at Crouse Hospital after a short illness. Philip was born April 13, 1941 in Rochester, New York, the son of Kenneth S. and Mary J. (Morris) Bailey. He retired in 2003 from New Venture Gear after 31 years. Mr. Bailey was also a licensed registered representative affiliated with H.D. Vest Financial Services for many years, where he was recognized with the distinguished title of top producer. Co-workers referred to him as "401 - Phil." He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. His recreational activities included cruise vacations with his wife of 39 years, Margaret, and he was very endeared to the sport of Soapbox Derby Racing, of which his grandson Patrick recently competed in. Mr. Bailey was predeceased by his sister Kathleen E. Holden in 2004. Surviving are his wife Margaret (Hartnett) Bailey; two sons and daughters-in-law, Douglas and Deborah Bailey of Fairport, New York, and Mark and Chantal Bailey of Tully, New York; two daughters and sons-in-law, Colleen and Michael Karmis of Cazenovia, New York, and Theresa and Patrick Wygand of Oyster Bay, New York; two sisters, Anne Gallo of Tampa, Florida, and Suzanne (John) Fifield, of Syracuse, New York; three brothers, William (Mary Ann) Bailey of Pittsford, New York, Martin (Jeanne) of Onondaga Hill, New York, and Thomas (Michele) of LaFayette, New York; nine grandchildren, Matthew, Lauren and Michael Bailey; Meghan, Patrick, Allison and Kayla Karmis; and Grace and Patrick Wygand; several nieces and nephews. Services: Monday, June 19, 2006, 9:15 a.m. at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home and 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 6136 Cherry Valley Turnpike, LaFayette, New York. Burial: Onondaga Valley Cemetery, 2500 Valley Drive, Syracuse, New York.
