Obituary of Nelson L. Jones

Nelson "Boy" L. Jones, Sr., age 70, of the Onondaga Nation, died Thursday, June 6, 2002 at Loretto, Syracuse, New York. Mr. Jones was born August 3, 1931 in Syracuse, New York, the son of Foster L. and Pathenia (Gibson) Jones. He retired as an Iron Worker for Iron Workers Local 60. He was a former member of Laborers Local 433, former member of the Carpenters Local 747, former member of the Onondaga Nation Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Onondaga Nation Snipe Clan. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, the former Helen Powless; three daughters: Colleen E. Jones, Regina A. Jones and Blanche L. Jones all from the Onondaga Nation; two sons: Nelson L. Jones Jr. from the Onondaga Nation and Matthew S. Jones from the Oneida Territory; one sister: Diane Jones from the Onondaga Nation; one brother: Belson F. Jones from Rosevelt, New York; 12 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral: Monday, June 10, 2002, 11:00 a.m. at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Inc., 4612 S.
