Obituary of John Patrick O'Brien

John Patrick O'Brien, 76, of Syracuse passed away Friday, April 28, 2017. Dad was born December 7, 1940 in Cortland, NY. He graduated from St. Lucy's High School in 1958. He was a lieutenant for the Syracuse Fire Department until he retired in 1986. Dad enjoyed the outdoors, campfires, riding his motorcycle, animals, music, motorsports, the game with no name, and, most importantly, spending time with his family. He was predeceased by his parents, Gladys and Donald, and his son, Adam. He is survived by his children, Shaun (Diana), Kevin, Kathy, Kerry (Sandy), Teri, Jeff and Cynthiana; two brothers, Bill and David; thirteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Wednesday, May 3, 2017, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, 4612 S. Salina Street, Syracuse, NY 13205.
