Roughly twenty years ago Ron Heilmann and Roger Reid were initial tutors that I had in the field of Marriage and Family, although I am not certain that either of them were aware of that as it more informal since I was not studying at any university at the time. Anyways their assistance did partly aid me in developing a dissertation topic that I could work on when I returned to formal studies.

I knew Ron from high school. We both graduated from Ridgefield Memorial High School Class of 1964. He was the President of the Student Council during our senior year. That, along with so many other honors which would be too numerous for me to remember much less list, made him a truly special person to have known.

It has been many years since I had crossed paths with Ron but I remember days together at OCC and recommending him to different people for his wisdom and compassion and insight. His legacy is in those many people that he helped through extremely difficult times, and I sent condolences to his family, he was a blessing Dave Pasinski

I knew Ron best through his music jams. I always marveled at his song selections which often contained deeply emotional and sensitive lyrics. He would surprise you at each and every session with a new song choice. Kind of like the ''special of the day" at a favorite restaurant. He so loved playing and singing. He felt every song and sang like he was living the words. That's what its all about! I think that his professional work dealing with sensitive human relations gave him a special talent. Musicians tend to be sensitive folks anyway. I will share a very special Ron Moment with you.
One time Ron was telling me that his current musical plans might temporarily not include me. Bless his soul, when Ron perceived that my feelings might be hurt by his words HE CRIED FOR ME as he carefully and most delicately delivered the news. OK Ron, to my knowledge no other soul has ever cried for me like that in my presence! Ron demonstrated such a loving and caring heart. I will never forget that moment and never forget him. Fortunately this was all temporary, JUST LIKE THE LIVES THAT WE LIVE. Thankfully I was able to spend many more musical moments jamming with Ron and his friends before he did pass on. Just so you know, Ron recently confided in me that he was a man of faith He did not fear death. He was at peace. Yet he will be sorely missed by everyone that new him. A great light has been extinguished and it is now up to us to bring light to this world.
Jennifer, Great Picture! We are so sorry for your loss. Please know that we feel it too... Peace, Mark Sostrin
