Virginia Belge

Obituary of Virginia Arlene Belge

Virginia ‘Ginny’ Belge of Jamesville, NY passed peacefully at the age of 96 with her

family by her side on December 13, 2023.

Mrs. Belge was born on October 24, 1927, in Jamesville, NY to Irene (Hotaling) and

William Champion. She attended Jamesville High School and later worked at Easy

Washer, Jamesville Laundromat, and ARC with deaf children. She married Jacob Belge

on October 27, 1945, and they remained happily married for 67 years until Jake’s death

in 2012. Fondly referred to as ‘Jake and Ginner’ by their friends, they raised five

children. They enjoyed traveling, especially a memorable anniversary trip to Hawaii and

winters spent in Christmas, Florida. She made friends easily - and had many, with

whom she and Jake visited and kept in touch with. Ginny enjoyed a variety of lifelong

hobbies including gardening, crafting, and baking for family and friends. She bowled in

the Big Bend Texaco League at the LaFayette Lanes. She was funny and kind and

known for her quick wit, zingers, and entertaining stories. She kept those around her

smiling.

She is survived by her five children, Ronald Belge, Diane Osborne, James Belge

(Sherri), Valerie Doupe (Ronald), and Annette Montross (Ronald), three siblings,

Charles R. Myers (Ann), Alice Brandt (Bill), and Linda Marvin, along with 11

grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Jake, her sisters Barbara Bush Thomas

and Doris Moade Williams, grandson, Alan Montross, and great-grandson Derek Belge.

Services will be private. There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
