Doug, I haven't seen you in a long time since you moved to Florida but you were always in a good mood when I did see you and always had that ""Campbell humor"" as many people spoke of today. You were one of my dad's best friends and it seemed like he practically lived at the diner. I will never forget all the times my dad and I had breakfast, lunch or dinner at ""Campbell's Valley Diner"" It just isn't the same with you and Dave not running the show. I always thought that I was such a big shot as a little kid because I was Bernie Puglisi's son and I could cut through the kitchen in the back. You were so busy cooking back there but always had time to let me stir the soup or talk to me or tell one of those corny jokes that I thought I was too young to understand! I always wondered why you would be laughing so hard and was just standing there with a dumb look on my face like I had no clue what you just said! When I got older I just realized that no matter if you told a joke or a story or just had something to say, it was always followed up by that classic ""Campbell chuckle"". You make sure that you make my dad a big bowl of soup up there. He's been waiting! Since you left the diner, him and I had searched high and low for a good diner--from Liberty to Nedrow back to the Valley Diner. About the closest thing we found was a place called Papa's up on Brighton Ave. I will never forget all the Campbell's soup labels I got from you for our soup label drives at St James. I was like the star of the class for bringing in bags and bags of soup labels. Every once in a while Mr. Johnson would beat my dad to the labels and I wouldn't have the most that week. Kathleen Johnson would beat me out because she got the secret stash at the diner first. I guess I fogive you for that!! I am so greatful to be raised by my mom and dad and for them to be surrounded by great friends like you and many other valley faithfuls. Being surrounded by great people is very important. I am very glad to have known you throughout my chilhood and the beginning of my adult life. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Campbell family. and Dougie don't forget--you take care of Bernie up there.....he's been waiting for a good meal!! and you know how he likes his meal....extra everything!! Joe Puglisi
