Obituary of Caroline J. (Johnson) Wilbur

Caroline J. (Johnson) Wilbur, 74, of  Syracuse, passed away on Monday, June 29th.  Caroline was a member of the Onondaga Nation Snipe Clan. 

She was predeceased by her parents, Ulysses Johnson and Addie Mae Gibson; also by her sisters, Minerva Moses, Constance Shenandoah; brothers, Ulysses Johnson, Jr. and Walter Elm; and a step-son, Wayne Oakes.  Caroline was a member of the Friends of Bill W for 33 years. 

She was an avid Bingo player and was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at American Legion, Valley Post 1468.  Caroline endured 12 years of receiving Dialysis treatment where mom was treated with dignity, respect and grace.

She is survived by daughters, Barbara M. Johnson of Syracuse, Vanessa (Carrie) Oakes of the Onondaga Nation; and a son, Thomas A. (Carrie) Oakes; and step-son, Loren Oakes of New Jersey; four beautiful grandchildren (who meant the world to her), Nathan (Kayla), Kanahrahtens "Cierra", Cienna and Thomas Jr.; and one great grandchild, Ezra David; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 3 to 6pm at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Syracuse, NY.  Services will be Friday, 10 AM at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at the Onondaga Nation Cemetery.
